Team Involvement Overview
The continued success of the Dayton Raiders Swim Club relies on the voluntary contributions of both time and talent of our membership. Without volunteers both team operation of the team and conducting meets is not financially practical. Families are needed to participate in the first two programs below (services hours and meet session workers if entering meets) and encouraged to participate in fundraising and becoming swim officials. These shared programs allow us to financially support a top-rated coaching staff, lease practice facilities, and establish a training environment so that our coaches can work their magic and our swimmers receive the best instruction found anywhere. We feel you will find these programs to be well-organized and necessary to operate a great program. We are always looking for ways to improve these programs, so after you ‘get your feet wet’, let us know your ideas so we can continue building the foundation for better athletes.
1. Service Hours
To support the team, and support the facility, our families contribute service hours each season. Service hour requirements depend on the training group. Swimmers in the first year joining from the swim academy, and swimmers in Raider Prep are exempt from service hours. There are many ways for families to earn service hours, including: timing at away meets, volunteering at high school meets at the DRAC, facility work days, group parties, donating items, and more! 2. Meet Session Working
In order to run quality home meets, Raiders and other teams rely upon those attending to provide staffing to run the meet. Click on the Meet Workers link to view requirements by Raider families at meets.
3. Fundraising
Participating in most fundraising activities is optional. The team does one team fundraiser each year - in 2026 we plan to do a swimathon. This is perhaps the way families can most help the club. You can sponsor the club or ask family members or local businesses if they would be interested in sponsoring the club. Click here to see sponsorship tiers. 4. Officials
Want to help run a meet and have the best seat in the house for the meet? Rather than sit in the stands all meet, hop down on deck and volunteer as an official. Officials ensure the meet runs smoothly and help swimmers follow the rules of each race. Parents interested in volunteering can email karleinejustice@gmail.com.
