USA-SWIMMING ZONE & LSC STRUCTURE
Here's How it Works...

USA-Swimming is comprised of four Zones in the United States.  Each Zone contains several LSC's, or "Local Swimming Chapters" from its region. There are a total of 60 LSC's.  The LSC's can be thought of as swimming "states", but larger states such as California and Texas are split into multiple LSC's, and smaller states are merged with other smaller states to create some LSC's.  Within each LSC are individual swim clubs, or teams.  Each Zone has its own Board of Directors, Annual Convention, Zone Championship meets, and Sectional Championship meets.  Regarding the Central Zone Championship Meet held in August each year, there are two.  In 1983, the Central Zone Committee split the meet into two sites to better accommodate the large number of swimmers which total as many as 1500 each year.  The Western and Southern Zones have a single meet format.  The Eastern Zone has a spring and a summer championship meet each year.  Each Zone is responsible for setting up its own format for the Zone Championships.
