Current ZONE Meet Coach List (held every August)
Current QUAD Team List (held in January at IUPUI)
Concerning the Ohio ASCA Coaches Trip List,
1.
Two separate lists will be kept; One for Zones and one for Quads.
Reason:
Most coaches who must decline Quads do so because of commitments
to HS
teams. They should not be penalized
for doing the job which we are supporting.
2.
One "no" answer should not cause a loss of status on the lists.
Reason:
A coach is ready and willing to accompany a team on a trip for 4 years
and is never asked. On the 5th
year, he cannot go due to a wedding. This
coach is a willing participant in the trip list.
He should not be penalized for one decline.
Also, that coach will then know his status for the next year and can plan
his schedule accordingly.
3.
No more than two (2) coaches can be selected from the same swim club for the
ZONE championships and no more than one (1) coach can be selected from the same
swim club for the QUAD meet. Coaches will retain their position for the
following year if they are passed over because of this rule.
By-Laws for the Trip Lists:
I.
Concerning the selection of coaches to accompany All-Star team
representatives for the Ohio LSC, two (2) lists will be maintained by the Ohio
ASCA: One for the Central Zone Championships; One for the Mid-States
Quadrangular Meet.
II.
Names of eligible coaches can be submitted by the coaches themselves.
Head coaches of clubs may also submit the names of assistant coaches. Names may be added at any time and will be placed at the
bottom of the list.
III. To be eligible, a coach must be an active coach with a club in the Ohio LSC and must have been in the LSC for a period of six months immediately prior to the selected meet, and be in good standing with local & national swimming chapters and ASCA.
IV.
The original order of both lists will be determined by random selection.
Subsequent order will be based on the following rules:
- The Ohio Coordinator, Trip List Monitor, and Ohio Coaches Rep will use the list to contact candidates for ZONES and QUADS. It is up to each candidate to review the list periodically throughout the year and make sure contact information is current. The coaches committee cannot be responsible for change of phone numbers or e-mail addresses. If an adequate amount of time has elapsed after initial contact to the candidate by the coaches committee, then the candidate's reply will default to a "decline" and the next candidate on the list will be contacted.
- One decline of an invitation will result in no loss of status.
The coaches position will remain in the current spot for the following
year. A second decline will result in a coach being dropped to the bottom of
the list.
- Two (2) coaches will be
- If four spots are filled by male coaches, selection will jump to the
next available female coaches until two spots are filled by a female coach.
The same process will hold in the event that all coaches are
female.
- Every attempt within the by-laws shall be made by the trip list monitor and
Coordinator to secure a coach (or chaperone) from each of the 4 cities (Toledo,
Dayton, Columbus, Cincinnati) for the bus pickup and drop-off points. If a
coach cannot be secured from each of the four cities, then the Coordinating
Coach should attempt to obtain a chaperone to assist at the pickup/drop-off city
that does not have a coach.
- After attending a meet, a coach will be dropped to the bottom of the
selection list.
- List will be updated every two years so that coaches who have moved out
of the LSC can be removed from the list.
- Once two coaches from the same club have take spots, no other coaches from that team may fill the remaining spots.
V.
It is the
responsibility
of the coaches and clubs to submit names and
claim eligibility on the trip lists. It
is NOT the responsibility of the trip list to solicit information from teams and
coaches.
VI.
Selection of a Head Coach for the trip will be as follows:
Most Trips = Head Coach
If a tie exists, the most recent head coach loses
If no one has been a head coach
1. One with most trips
2. One with most head
coaching experience
3. One with most years of
coaching experience
Coordinating coach cannot be Head Coach
VII. All ZONE Coaches will receive a coaching stipend, food per diem, and travel/lodging accommodations from Ohio LSC. All QUAD Coaches will receive travel per diem and lodging from Lake Erie LSC.
VI. (Aug
1999) Effective immediately, Ohio Swimming is forming a "Trip
Committee" which will hold responsibility to disseminate information on the
Quad Meet and the Zone Championships as soon as it is available.
This committee will be made up of:
