Team Finish
Team Ohio finished 3rd out of the 15-team field in the Central Zone. Excellent job considering we did not field a large 15-18 boy and girl age group. The 11-12 girls won the age group. The 10 & Under boys were second. The 10 & Under girls and 13-14 boys were 3rd. Alisabeth Marsteller (12) won the individual High Point for the 11-12 girls.

Marriott Hotel Update
The Indianapolis East Marriott has informed us that we utilized enough rooms to avoid any attrition charges for not reaching an estimate number of rooms. As it turns out, over 100 nights of your rooms were buried in their system and not affiliated with “TEAM OHIO” – which is common nowadays since room reservations can be achieved by numerous methods over the internet. For those of you that replied to an earlier request with your hotel information – THANK YOU as that was key for us to show the Marriott how many of us stayed at their 3-hotel complex. As you might expect, planning for such an event is like hitting a moving target: block too few rooms and we are out of luck when we approach the event. Block too many rooms, and the hotel could take a loss if there is under-utilization.
Import Results Into Your Club’s Database:
If you want your team to import the results from Zones into your club’s Hy-Tek Team Manager system, your club manager or coach (whoever manages your club’s meet results) must follow the steps below. These steps are listed on the Ohio zone page. Download the meet backup posted on the Ohio page, then perform the following steps:
1.
Restore backup into your MM
2. Create your club name under "Teams"
3. Switch over all of your athletes from "OHIO" to "YOURCLUB"
under the Athletes menu.
4. Export results for "YOURCLUB"
5. Import results into your TM
Note: do not import relay splits since the meet had touchpads disabled
for most of the relays throughout the meet
Thank You! Couldn’t be Done Without You…
These folks were selfless, always prepared, never had enough sleep, and would not have made this trip possible if it weren’t for their time and dedication. Even more impressive considering many of the other teams still follow the “just show up to the meet and hope for the best” policy when organizing their LSC’s team entries:
Mike Rice – Official, acted as Ohio liason at Open Water
Margo Pocisk – Parent Chaperone
Polly Mayhew – Parent Chaperone
Tami Sickinger – Parent Chaperone
Gina Lofquist – Parent Chaperone
Diane Schaffer – Parent Chaperone
Marianne Pohlmann – Parent Chaperone
Coach Susie Tonjes – from Greater Columbus helped with deck management
Coach Charles Galvin – from MASON helped with deck management
Coach Kris Moellenburg – Head Coach
Coach Ralph Brodbeck – 13-over coach
Coach Jerry Freimuth – 13-over coach
Coach Keith Ferrara – 13-over coach
Coach Steph Waldbilling – 12- under coach
Coach Ann Brewer – 12- under coach
Coach Sara Stacey – 12- under coach
Coach JR Leahy – 12- under coach
Brent Peaden – Coordinator Coach
Kastaway Swimwear, especially “Lynn” – hundreds of hours of equipment setup and packaging, low prices
TYR – at-cost gear, goody bag donations
Philo – “bungee” straps donations
Buckeye Charters – always beats the “other company” rates by a lot with bigger, better, and newer buses, and their service is 110% - 8 years straight
In our Prayers
Please keep bus driver Jim Scott and his family in your prayers. On trips such as this, it is easy for athletes and staff to develop relationships with our bus drivers as they become part of one, big “family”. Mr. Scott passed away on Sunday after rushing back to Ohio mid-trip while feeling ill. We have sent the family flowers and pictures that were taken of Chris during the trip prior to returning home.
Lost and Found
If anyone has or found a cell phone, reply to this message with a description – a travel swimmer left one in the room or at the hotel. If anyone else lost something, you can try to the hotel or Natatorium directly, but at this point all lost items may remain lost so you do not need to contact any coaches or staff. The coaches and staff only have two lost and found items that are in our possession (listed below). If the items below belong to you, reply to this e-mail with supporting details and I’ll send it to you:
*** Girls suit (describe size and type)
*** MP3 player (non iPod, not high end)
Team Pictures for Travel Team Swimmers
If you were on the Travel Team and you did not receive your Team Picture, please reply to this message with full swimmer name and we will send you one. About 15 of your did not receive one, mostly those of you that checked out early while in Indianapolis.
2009 Zones
Ohio has been assigned Noblesville (IN) for the 2009 Central Zone Championships. A recently renovated (and very nice) outdoor pool will be the site for next year’s event.
