*** 2008 Ohio Zone Team Distribution ***

Ohio Zone Team members,

If you have qualified and are entered in the Central Zone Championships next weekend at IUPUI, please read all of the notes below.  Once we submit your entries to the host, it is not possible to make corrections or changes.  Ensuring your entries are 100% accurate now is the only way you will ensure a perfect entry into the meet.

Draft Entries Posted

We have posted the first draft of your entries to the Ohio homepage.  Please make sure all of your entries are correct. There is no need to reply if all is correct.  There were a few instances where swimmers did not have the meter cut, but they did have the yard cut.  Other instances had a few entry typos.  We cleaned these up the best we could.

Updated Events

For those of you that notified us of updated times or added events over the course of the last two weekends, and prior to the entry deadline, please make sure your additional races were added properly.  If you have any outstanding balance due as a result of added races, please be sure to submit that as well.

Special note to 13-14 and 15-18 swimmers:

Due to the uniqueness of this special Anniversary "Mega" Zone Championships, the meet will permit up to six (6) individual events for all 13-14 and 15-18 age groups instead of five (5), excluding relays and Open Water.  If you entered five (5), and qualify for and wish to enter a sixth (6) race, please e-mail the Coordinator Brent Peaden at bpeaden@woh.rr.com by Tuesday July 29th.  The 10-under and 11-12 age groups are unchanged - they are already maximum six (6) for the meet. Your additional entry fee of $5 must be sent to the Coordinator's address listed in the registration packet below and received by Friday Aug 1st.

Open Water Entries

For the 25 Ohio swimmers who entered Open Water – please remember you are responsible for your own transportation whether you are on the travel team or not. We will process your entries and then you simply check yourself in at whatever table they have setup.  The event will be well organized and staffed.  If you are on the travel team and swimming open water (Goldstein, Grender, and Heist), you will rejoin the travel team at the natatorium between 10:30AM-12PM during equipment handout.

Relay Lineups

Relay lineups are based on all meter times imported from USA sanctioned meets, no yard times or conversions are used.  The 13-14 and 15-18 200 medley relay lineups are identical to the 400 lineups with the exception of the 50 Free.  Please be patient as there could potentially be an error in relay lineups due to a missing meet that an Ohio club attended that was not imported into our database. If that is the case, please let us know. If you are not available to swim any relay for which you are qualified for – you must reply to this message as soon as you can so that we may recalculate the lineup with the next available alternateAll relay swimmers appearing on the final posting are expected to swim.  The final relay report and any updates to entries will be posted by Saturday. As you might expect, planning for relays in another state takes a lot of planning and coordination - so please notify us now if you see a relay spot that you cannot swim so that we may contact an alternate.

“Wednesday Night Relays”

13-14 and 15-18 relay swimmers should be especially attentive to the new format for Mega Zones – the “Wednesday Night Relays” which will feature the 400 Free and 400 Medley Relays that begin at 6:15PM.  Coaches from the Midwest are particular excited about this new format – which is surely to generate some very fast splits in the pool as the teams prepare many in USA-Swimming thinks will be the largest USA meet ever. We will bring those Ohio relay swimmers to the stage during Wednesday’s 3-6PM “OHIO SOCIAL” at the Marriot East Conference Center and cheer them on as they depart for the natatorium for the relays.  When reviewing your entries, below is a guide as to what event numbers fall on each day.

Special Entry Rule for Races that Have One (1) or No (0) Competitors

There is a special rule in place for the 13-14 and 15-18 age groups: “if we have fewer than two (2) qualifiers in an event for the 13-14 or 15-18 age groups, the LSC may enter up to two (2) swimmers maximum in that event. The non-qualifying entries shall be entered at no time (NT).”  If any Ohio athletes attending the meet wants to enter any of these events, reply to this note with your name, best time (meters), best time (yards) in the event and we will get you in.  You will need to send $5 to add the additional events.  In the event more than the allowable Ohio swimmers request the extra events, we will take the fastest swimmer in meters, then yards.  Here are the events that have open spots:

Women 15-18: 200 Breast, 200 Fly, 1500 Free, 100 Back, 100 Free, 800 Free, 50 Free, 400 IM

Men 15-18 200 Breast, 200 Fly, 400 IM

Women 13-14 200 Fly

Thank you,
Brent Peaden
