Subject: Zone update - Tuesday
night, countdown 2 days
Zone swimmers,
Here are a few particulars;
this should answer most or all of the e-mails coming in this week. If not,
please reply before Wednesday evening if possible.
PARENTS
-
Warmup times for the 12 &
under afternoon sessions, according to the meet info, state “warm-ups begin at
the conclusion of the morning session – times listed on the meet website by
6PM
Wednesday at
http://uss-michigan.com/zones2005/. They are tentatively scheduled to
begin at 12:30PM
each day. 13 & over warm-ups are
7AM
(prelims) and 5PM
(finals) except Sunday where warm-ups for finals begin at 4PM. Open Water on
Monday – 8AM.
-
Parking is free but
limited. The meet packet states towing in illegal areas is common.
-
Heat sheets for Open
Water competition only are posted to the official meet homepage. We don’t
know if they’ll post the pool psychs – keep checking.
-
Relays – coaches will put
these together based on times in Swim Connection, YMCA champs, and Age Group
States. They will use a simply method – math. This will be done after
Thursday’s registration and posted beginning Friday for the rest of the
weekend. If a swimmer appears on a Sunday relay but is leaving Saturday,
please have them inform the coaches.
-
Coaches this year from the
Ohio Trip List are: JR Leahy (UASC), Jen Hazel (GTAC), Kris Moellenberg (UN),
Heather Grubb (DR), Age Group Coach of the Year Rob Brown (COPS), and Ralph
Brodbeck (OHST)
-
Admission is first come
first serve (large seating 1,200). Tickets are $7 per day (all sessions) or if
you only attend finals it is $5. Children 8 & under are free. Doors open at
6:30AM.
-
Pictures information is on
the official meet website (Travel swimmers get one team photo included in
their trip)
-
We will be able to update
the OHIO website during the meet with pertinent information. The official MEET
WEBSITE plans to use LIVE results. We may not be able to send out “mass
e-mails” from the meet depending on the campus network capabilities.
-
There is positive check-in
for the 800 Free and 1500 Free – all other events are already seeded & there
is no penalty for no-shows. If you are NOT attending prelims of the day you
are swimming the 800 & 1500, the coaches will automatically check you in.
-
SCRATCH rules are in
effect for 13-overs. If for some reason you need to scratch a finals race –
let the coaches know. Failure to scratch will result in a $100 penalty to the
swimmer per event. 12-unders are timed finals so there is no scratch policy
in effect.

together some activities for the travel swimmers. If we can get these
arrangements planned in advance, we will announce during Thursday’s
registration and have them listed on a white board in the lobby of the nearby
SOUTH QUAD dorms. All swimmer may join in as long as parents are
present. Many of the activities are adjusted based on the meet timelines, so
we’ll do our best to provide advanced notice.
-
Saturday night finals is
SPIRIT NIGHT for Team Ohio. All swimmers are asked to come to the pool
whether they make finals or not and cheer on our 13-14 and 15-18 swimmers at
finals. We’ll have some spirit gear and posters to keep things fun.

Thursday afternoon and evening. Swimmers leaving from the bus stops in
(particularly the

upset the bus drivers. We will stop for food when our belly’s demand it!

it

Use your best judgment on
MP3 players, cell phones, Game Boy & PSP games, etc – again, you wouldn’t want
to lose these items
-
A team photo will be
included with your trip. If you want any of the action photos or additional
team photos that are likely for sale at the meet, you will need to purchase on
your own
-
Ohio Swimming, Inc will
take care of all food, drinks, social activities, etc
-
Dorm rooms will have a
phone (local calls only). Bring a calling card or call collect if you need to
make long distance calls.

Travel Team until they are signed out by their parent/guardian at the meet, or
dropped off at the city location they were assigned to

representatives of Ohio’s finest before departure, and they should conduct
themselves accordingly when visiting other states.
