FAMILY OBLIGATION #1 - These meets are run exclusively by the Raider organization.  Each family on the Dayton Raiders is required to work “sessions”, which usually last 4-5 hours in duration.  Based on the number of families on the program and the total number of positions needed to run the meets, here are the requirements for each family on the program:

For every session not fulfilled, a $25 assessment will be charged to the family’s account to cover the additional hours needed by hiring a local organization, boosters group, or other staff to cover the session requirements. Please understand that it takes a lot of workers to run a quality meet. Sign up sheets will be posted on the bulletin board at the Dayton Boys & Girls Club East.

FAMILY OBLIGATION #2  (fall meet only, no food/drink donations needed for the winter meet) – Each family is asked to donate 2 items (drink and baked good) for each meet. Please drop off your items before the meet begins or at practice a couple days before the meet weekend.)
     1.        12-pack of Pop (Pepsi or Coke products please) or 8-pack of Gatorade.
     2.
A baked good: Muffins, cookies or individually wrapped power bars, cereal bars, individual chips bags, etc.

NOTE:  Anyone that has conflicts in working our meets needs to see the Meet Worker Chair, Barb Castilano.  There may be other options available such as providing meals for our workers in the event you have a conflict.  Please see her early, as there are only so many alternatives available.

TIPS:

►  Many families choose to work a session their children are swimming in.  For example, if the 12-under girls are swimming the “morning” session at the Raider Paul Jarnagin Invite, then parents of 12-under girls may wish to sign up to work the “morning” session rather than the “afternoon” session.

►  Some families choose to cover their sessions quicker by having two parents work the same session.  For example, if Mom and Dad both sign up to time with stopwatches during the Friday session of the Paul Jarnagin Invite, then return to time the Saturday morning session, that family met all of their requirements for the year.

►  Ask other parents (or your group coach) what a particular position involves.  That way, you may lean towards positions that you prefer.  There are all kinds of positions:  hospitality (food & snack setup), computer operation, timing, clerk of course (helping the swimmers into the right race and lane), awards, etc.

►  Sign up early.  If you wait until the last minute, the position you prefer may be gone.

►  If you have any questions, contact the coordinator below.  Remember, the coordinator is a parent, just like you, volunteering countless hours helping our organization be the best we can be.
