Relay Cards

Relay cards are included in your coach’s packets. As a courtesy, we ask that you return your relay cards by 8:30 am and 1:00 pm for both sessions so that these can be entered into our computer.  If needed, you can report any necessary changes of your swimmers up until the relay event.

Opening Ceremony

Prior to the beginning of the meet we will conduct a short opening ceremony.  At the completion of warm-ups please quickly report around the pool deck for an introduction of all teams and coaches.  (Please look for your team sign posted around the pool deck alphabetically).  Swimmers can cheer and wave to the audience when their team is announced.  This will begin promptly at 8:40 and 1:10 respectively for both sessions.

Olympian Autographs

We are very excited to have Amanda (Adkins) Schneider available to meet your swimmers and sign autographs from 11:30 am- 1:00 pm. Please encourage your swimmers to stay after the meet or come early to meet Amanda.  Amanda was a 2000 Olympic Team Member in Sydney, Australia.  She won 5th place in the 200m back and was a National Champion.

Bull Pen

A bull pen is provided for all swimmers.  Please make sure that your swimmer arrives promptly and has their name written on their right shoulder with their events/heats on their hand/arm.  This helps facilitate the bullpen.  In addition, the current bullpen events will be posted on the dry erase boards at the south end of the pool.

Seating

Please remind your swimmers to remain on deck during the meet and to avoid area designated for parents.  The bleachers upstairs and a section downstairs are for parents only.  Keeping swimmers on deck and in properly marked seating will help with the overcrowding and will also facilitate finding and getting your swimmers to the bull pen promptly.  Please encourage your parents to remain off the deck, especially behind the bullpen area.

Tents

To provide additional space and comfort for our parents and swimmers, we will have a tent for concessions off the east side of the building. Another tent off the pool on the south side of the building will also be used if the weather is above 35-40 degrees with little or no wind.

Awards

Participation trophies will be awarded to each participating swimmer.  Swimmers can pick up their trophy any time during the meet in the upstairs office

Individual awards (trophies 1-6, ribbons 7-12), and relay awards (ribbons 1-6) will be awarded.  These awards can be picked up by swimmers upstairs in the office as well.  Listen for announcements regarding which events are ready for pick up as the session progresses.

High Point and High Point Runner UP awards (for each age group/boys and girls) will be presented immediately following the girls’ or boys’ final session on Sunday by the diving area.  In addition, Barbara Kay Mini Meet team champions and runners up will also be presented with a trophy following the boys’ session on Sunday.

Coaches, please remember to pick up any awards for your team that have not been claimed by your swimmers before you leave for the day.

Coupons

Enclosed in this packet are coupons for coaches and swimmers provided by Wendy’s.  Please distribute these to your swimmers.  Wendy’s is located just west on Rt. 161 (East Dublin Granville Rd).  Take a right out of the parking lot and Wendy’s is on your left.

DQ

If your young swimmer should get a disqualification (DQ) we are providing a coupon (“Blizzard Buck”) to be redeemed at the Dairy Queen on High Street in Worthington.  These are to congratulate the swimmer for their great efforts and to encourage them to keep trying and enjoy swimming.  Officials will be giving these to the swimmer; if your swimmer does not get one, please come to the announcer’s table.

Heat winners/Gift Cards

Each heat winner will receive a heat ribbon and at the end of the race. Please let us know if your swimmer does not receive one.

Hershey Bars

In keeping with a tradition Mrs. Kay enjoyed for many years, we will be handing out candy bars to all swimmers at the conclusion of the Sunday Session.  Swimmers should meet by the diving area and form a line.  These will be handed out by Mrs. Kay’s son, Kody Kay and her daughter, Cindy Hoskey.
