| JOB DESCRIPTION: | ||
| 1. | Serve as a lead coach and/or assistant coach of the Silver group (Senior B) and/or serve as assistant coach of the Gold (Senior A) group. The candidate shall work with the Head Coach to develop a comprehensive season plan designed to achieve maximum improvement for all group members. Advises Head Coach on any issues related to the team that might require his attention, or that of the board members. Specific duties may include some or all of the following: | |
| a. | Willingness to learn from the Head Coach recently developed technique and training patterns that are incorporated into the practice groups. The candidate will have access to an extensive library of learning materials as well as the guidance of the head coach to successfully get "on board" with the Raider program. | |
| b. | Designs and writes workouts specific to group members, providing an effective balance of aerobic and anaerobic conditioning. | |
| c. | Instructs swimmers in proper development of strokes, starts, and turns through effective use of verbal instruction, drills, stroke correction and swim aids (paddles, fins, snorkels, tempo trainers). | |
| d. | Provides information designed to improve overall athlete development. Items include, but are not limited to (dietary needs, psychological development, and performance vs. practice expectations). | |
| e. | Incorporate dryland activities that may include the following: stretching, abdominal core work, stretch chords, and medicine balls. | |
| f. | Maintains open communication with all group members and parents to aid in development of each athlete. Provides feedback to parents when determined necessary or upon request. | |
| g. | Coordinates schedule with Head Coach to ensure adequate coverage for practices. Serve as primary coach in the absence of the Head Coach. | |
| h. | Provide coverage of swim meets giving advice and feedback to all swimmers. | |
| i | Performs other duties as required by the Head Coach | |
| PRACTICE SCHEDULE: | ||
| 1. | Practice schedule is adjusted from time to time due to pool usage and to ensure the highest lane ratio for each practice group. Please contact the head coach for the current schedule of the senior groups the candidate is applying for. Below are general practice times during the winter and summer months. | |
| Fall/Winter/Spring weekdays: evening hours approx 4-6PM, 5-7PM, or 6-8PM & possible AM workouts before school weekends: morning hours: Sat mornings, possible Sunday late morning or afternoons | ||
| Summer weekdays: morning hours approx 6-9AM or 7-9AM, possible evenings 2x per week weekends: Sat morning | ||
| 2. | Meet Schedule - generally there are an average of 12-20 meets per year held on weekends (Fri/Sat/Sun) | |
| COMPENSATION: | ||
| This is a half-time salaried position or hourly position commensurate with experience that is managed by both the Head Coach and the Board of Directors. The candidate will have all coach credentials, memberships, and education requirements paid for by the Raider program. Periodic performance reviews are conducted to ensure quality coaching for our swimmers. | ||
