How Do I Taper Like a Raider Champion...?

 

IN THE WATER…

1.     Taper begins in your mind:  you must FEEL fast to SWIM fast!

2.     Every turn during the taper must be PERFECTLY executed.

3.     Every drill and every stroke should be swum correctly

4.     Don’t be afraid to swim fast during the taper practices

5.     Feel good each practice before getting into the water, stay “loose” and relaxed.  Remember:  this is a FUN and EXCITING time.

 

 AT HOME OR SCHOOL…

1.     Get lots of rest at night…no late nighters!

2.     Wake up at the same time each morning…around the same time you might warmup up at the meet.

3.     As Mom & Dad to lighten your chores the week of championships - they'll understand if you say "Mom, I'm going to swim FAST if I rest my body instead of cleaning my room""

3.     No more soda/pop the week before the meet!

4.     No more junk food and candy the week before the meet!

5.     Set several goals before bedtime (100% best times, make finals, win your heat, etc!).  NOTE:  Do NOT wait until the meet to set your goals…this usually does not work!

6.     STAY POSITIVE ABOUT EVERY PART OF YOUR DAILY ACTIVITIES.

 

 

You worked your tails off for 6 months!  Follow this advice and make every dream become your reality!  All the hard work will be worth it.
